Equal rights for Dyslexics!

We can't walk but we can fly! Do you know of any child or teenager who is so brilliant to connect with yet is becoming boxed in by labels such as" ADD " "a dreamer" "just doesn't care" "Never listens" "rebel" "free spirit" "ungrounded Artist" "low IQ"? Consider the deeper story of Dyslexia and how they might need more equal rights. People in wheel chairs are finally given more access to most public buildings. But dyslexics are told "just walk! walking will cure you!" the journey of learning to read and write and do math and hundreds of daily activities is as impossibly difficult as it would be to walk if you are in a wheel chair and as inefficient as if you were a bird. One teeny example is how all tape decks use arrows that point in the opposite direction of forward and backwards to the dyslexic mind…so we struggle over and over just to use a boom box.

Dyslexic people can barely walk but they can fly! They have wings that can take them around the globe and eagle vision that sees things in entire spheres of whole connectedness to thousands of other things making a 3D mandala. Yet to walk with teeny bird feet takes all day to walk a mile. And in the meantime all our time is taken up and our wings atrophy.

We never get to practice using our wings unless we exhibit all the behavior above…we daydream, we rebel, we go within and hide, we doubt ourselves and wonder "why am I still at a fifth grade level when my thoughts are in response to people with doctorate levels of teaching?" What are these strange appendages of wild creativity at my sides? And when we fly we are all alone, and in secret. we have no mentor Eagles to help us learn the basics of flying. We do so under duress, suspicion, and hostility. We may find drugs to be more helpful than anything els we can get our hands on. But usually not. We need to truly fly and that is to be alive! Not dumbed down to a nonexistent brain realm.

It hurts so bad when people try to cure us. It's like our beloved teachers are taking little saws to our wings "this is good for you…it will make you like us….it won't hurt forever…" But why not consider that we are not supposed to heal Dyslexics we are supposed to let them heal us! Let the kids do what they are loving to do. Let them "read" audially and "write" by giving presentations or making videos. Let them fully express themselves through the five arts of theater ,dance, music, visual Arts, and story (with or without text). Why don't we allow this by now? Because every one else would be jealous! Most kids need this transformation of the whole School system!

Kirk and I have created a sound curriculum model called  "the Art Bridge world peace ambassador Art-ecology training ". It actually meets state standards. We gave it a full go at "the Art Bridge"School of the Arts we ran. This curriculum is intoxicatingly fun. it takes kidsand adults around the planet into the spiritual and artistic heart of many earth based cultures. I will train any one for free who wants to start  a charter school for dyslexic and creatively gifted children. I have a website up that gives many of the detailsNamuh
